The Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) group at JPMorgan Chase focuses on companies with annual revenue of $20 million to $500 million, as well as municipalities, and not-for-profit entities requiring both traditional banking services (lending and cash management), as well as investment banking products (including debt and equity capital markets, risk management derivatives, and corporate finance advisory). With more than 100 locations nation-wide, our local delivery model, coupled with the firm’s global resources, allows us to provide clients with customized, comprehensive solutions and exceptional service.

We want to introduce you to the many areas of direct client work across banking, treasury, and underwriting with client-facing work, as well as extensions of these functions through strategic project work and more. There are two program tracks to choose from within MMBSI. Additional details are below.

  1. Our diversified experience, which exposes you to a variety of teams and functions across the broader MMBSI business.
  2. Our focused program experience in our Capital & Advisory Solutions line of business, which streamlines your exposure to three dynamic teams.

Our diversified industries experience is organized into five regional groups (Northeast, Midwest, Southwest, Southeast and Pacific) and a variety of industry segments, including, but not limited to, Agribusiness, Life Sciences, Government, Healthcare, Higher Education, Not-for-profit, and Technology and Disruptive Commerce. You may be interested in this experience if you’re looking for broad exposure to key functions and teams across MMBSI.

Capital & Advisory Solutions line of business include Asset Based Lending, Financial Sponsors Group, and Syndicated Finance teams. These teams support companies with specific types of financial needs such as modeling and pricing, cash flow or collateral analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and more. You may be interested in this experience if you would like to focus on specific types of complex financing and analytics.

In both tracks, Summer Analysts supporting our regional groups will work with MMBSI Bankers, Underwriters, Treasury Officers and Product Partners who cover a variety of industries to provide a range of financing solutions and strategic advisory.

What to expect:

Our Summer Analyst Program will provide you with an introduction to client management, credit structuring, and cash management allowing you to develop the necessary skillset to become a successful Full-Time Analyst. The 9-week program will begin with a week of orientation and training, giving you foundational business knowledge you’ll build upon throughout the summer.

You will also have the opportunity to hear from and network with senior leaders and spend time with peers from programs across the bank at philanthropic and group events.

Upon successful completion of the internship program, you may receive an offer of full-time employment in our 2.5 year, full-time MMBSI Analyst Program.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Working on financial models to support financing transactions
  • Preparing marketing materials for use in client meetings (covering topics such as financing alternatives, working capital optimization, and industry analysis)
  • Learning how to identify treasury product solutions to benefit clients’ long-term planning
  • Collaborate with deal teams regarding business development strategy, including the identification of potential prospects
  • Developing an understanding of the full breadth of J.P. Morgan products and service offerings
  • Conducting client and prospect research to support business development efforts
